File Requirements
There are two file formats that are accepted through this service. They are Portable Document Format (PDF) and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS). We recommend the use of PDF files with this service as the compressed nature of this file format provides for faster upload times.
General Requirements:
- All fonts must be embedded in the file.
- All images must be embedded in the file.
- Colour images must be in CMYK separated format.
- Colour and grayscale images should be at least 200dpi.
- Monochrome images should be at least 600dpi.
- The minimum acceptable quality for downsampling jpegs in 'medium-high'.
PDF Requirements
The PDF format from Adobe produces a compact file and is therefore the most efficent format for use with the service. We strongly reccomend the use of Adobe Acrobat Distiller to create pdf files. PDFs which are created by other applications tend to be less reliable.
- All PDF transparencies are to be flattened to ensure accurate reproduction.
- Encrypted PDFs are not supported.
EPS Requirements
Encapsulated Postscript Files can be created by most graphic applications, they are platform-independent and provide another convenient method of combining images, fonts and artwork into a single file.
- EPS files must be level 1 or 2.
